Looking to buy a Jonas Autograph but need help to tell if its real?

Well, I thought that I would share my knowledge on how I have bought Jonas autographs. As I live in Australia it’s not possible for me to obtain one in person, however I’ve learnt a few tricks on autograph buying.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IT IS ALWAYS A RISK TO BUY ONLINE. I can only offer advice not a guarantee that an autograph you buy will be authentic.

AUTOGRAPHS TO AVOID

These autographs below are examples of pictures that are and have been selling for years claiming to be authentic. THEY ARE PRINTED, please do not buy them for anymore than what you would pay for a fake autograph/poster.

1. If you can’t get an autograph in person the next best place is their official site

Such as the Happiness Begins signed CDs, which I will be using as the main example in this thread

2. The Autographs look like Jonas Brothers autographs

It sounds obvious but what I mean by this is;
  • Each signature looks like it was signed by the guys
  • Each signature has different style in handwriting
  • Become familiar with the guy’s signatures, so the above two Happiness Begins signed covers you will notice that Nick has two different signatures. The top one is written as “Nick” the second includes his full name “Nick Jonas” with what I like to call a “tail” which is just the letter “J”

Note that each signature on the Happiness Begins covers have their own handwriting style, this will look more obvious in comparison to the next photo

  1. The signatures do NOT look like the guys’ signatures but that someone has tried to copy them
  2. The signatures are in the same handwriting; note Kevin’s and Nick’s has the same “tail”
  3. The loops of the J’s all look the same as well
Another example of an obvious fake “autograph” There’s actually three things wrong with this “autographed” photo
  1.  They do NOT look like the guys’ signatures
  2. Each signature looks the like the same handwriting as if written by one person
  3. All 3 signatures are over the wrong brother

Look for stroke marks!

Using the Authentic Happiness Begins signed album as an example you can tell two things about this autograph by looking
  1. It was signed in marker because you can see where the marker has faded
  2. The signature is not a copy/pre-print*

*Step 2 can only be confirmed in person and I’ll show you how.

Has the seller sold multiple autographs? If so do they all look different?

Selling multiple autographs can be a sign it’s fake or real.

How to spot a FAKE:

  • They are selling the exact same CD cover, picture, poster etc.
  • The above picture is of a past listing where the seller sold three.
  •  All three have the exact same signatures and don’t vary in shape, size or placement meaning the seller has copied the original and printed out extras to sell as authentic autographs
How to spot an Authentic autograph

  • If someone is selling multiple of the same signed CDs, posters, pictures etc. look for differences in signatures
  • If the signatures are in slightly different spots or are slightly different (more faded, squished, rounder etc.) then there is a good chance they are authentic as it’s impossible for someone to sign multiple things the exact same way every time
